Fallout 4: 10 Things It Did Better Than EVERY Other RPG
8. Settlements & Home Base Customisation
Like most RPGs and the previous Fallout games, you could find any number of bases to call your own.
Perhaps you saved the town from certain disaster and know they want you to stay? Maybe you joined a group, and the room comes with the job? It could be you're just a psychopath that killed someone and is now claiming what was theirs for your own? There were many ways to obtain a home, but it was never quite yours.
Fallout 4 changed
all that.
Remember that junk we previously discussed? Well, there was another use for it.
At certain points in Fallout 4, you could claim settlements for different factions. Story-wise they may want these for one reason or another, but either way, they were yours to control.
The best part is you can build whatever you want. Sure there are some limitations, but if you want to build a concrete defence bunker, you can.
The player doesn’t have to do any of this, but you can tear down everyone’s house and build yourself a mansion if you feel like it, giving a unique sense of immersion to everything else in Fallout
