Fallout 4: 10 Things It Did Better Than EVERY Other RPG
5. Incredible DLC
RPGs seem to offer
the most when it comes to DLC. Both The Witcher 3 and Dragon Age Inquisition are fine examples,
and Fallout 4 is no exception. The DLC offered by Fallout 4 varied a great
deal, and there is one standout example, Far Harbor.
Far Harbor is Fallout's homage to Lovecraftian style horror. The small island town of Far Harbor (based on real-life Bar Harbour) clings to the edge of an island that is overrun by radioactive fog and horrific, maddening creatures. The inhabitants use fog condensers to protect themselves from the horrors within, but there are other settlements on the island.
As you travel across the island, you will discover two other groups: The Children of Atom, a religion dedicated to radiation and nuclear destructions, and the colony of Arcadia, a society consisting of synthetic humans. There are so many twists in the story and places to explore that you will find yourself wanting multiple playthroughs, and with eight endings you can have it.
Other DLC such as Nuka World would be released to address fan requests but Far Harbour is the stand out example of well-made DLC, a factor that many other games should try to imitate.
