6. The Perks System
It almost goes without saying that Fallout's perks system has always been a highlight of the series. Unlike a lot of other games in the genre, which often only add stat increases to a character when they level up, the perks here are often very specific and really make a difference to the way you play. The male-only Ladykiller perk, for example, not only gives a damage advantage against female opponents, but also allows for new dialogue options when talking to members of the opposite sex. Fallout 4 is certain to increase the amount of these kind of perks, as well as the number that are used for specific character builds: want to play as a silver-tongued tech expert, a sword-master with an affinity for animals, or a hand-to-hand master who's also a cannibal?
