Fallout 4: 12 Most Intriguing Rumours So Far

2. The Sleeper

Information related to the origin of the player character is culled entirely from that revelation in the casting call mentioned in the previous two instalments. Something that remains a trademark of the series it that the character is never named, but is instead referred to throughout by a nickname. In previous instalments the player has mostly been former Vault Dwellers, but the mould was broken with New Vegas where a character known simply as The Courier was shown. The casting call refers to both a male and female main character (possible within the shadow of Mass Effect's FemShep) and states that they originate within the game by awaking from a cryogenic sleep chamber. Naturally, with the Institute being referred to, it is entirely possible that the character could turn out to be an android coming out a cryogenic chamber with a false memory. Regardless, the character talks about his (or her) great-great-grandfather being in World War 2, so the character very well may have been born prior to the nuclear war that created the Fallout universe. Naturally, given the variety of the vaults seen so far in the series it would come as no surprise to find out that one of them had the residents cryogenically frozen. So the character could yet be a vault dweller of sorts and perhaps the initial character set up could determine the character€™s history prior to the war. Likelihood: 8/10
