Fallout 4: 12 Settings That Would Be Better Than Boston

7. Hawaii

There is almost no reference to the the state of Hawaii in the Fallout universe. This is most likely because, in the event of a nuclear holocaust, establishing communication with an archipelago that's situated roughly 2000 miles from North America's coasts, is both pointless and impossible. However, the state €“ in some condensed form €“ would make for a setting that is both fascinating and unique. Hawaii is virtually unrivalled in its environmental diversity, with its tropical rain forests, constant volcanic activity and mountainous regions, it has all the features of a vibrant and dynamic setting; the likes of which we've never seen before in a Fallout game. With eight main islands and a number of large towns and cities for developers to choose from, Hawaii would be the perfect location for the kind of self-contained, open world game that Fallout has morphed into over the years. Furthermore, the likely rise in seawater and seismic activity brought on by large-scale nuclear warfare could transform the landscape entirely, leaving plenty of creative control in the hands of Bethesda. Picture a partially submerged Honolulu, an abandoned Pearl Harbor and the Mauna Kea Observatories, all brilliantly recreated with retro-futuristic aesthetic tweaks, forming an astonishing contrast when set against the region's dense rain forests and primeval valleys. Well implemented, seagoing vehicles are a must.
