7. "It's Being Made For COD Fanboys"
When did we all get so disenfranchised with blowing stuff up? I know, "They're appealing to the Call of Duty crowd", many will say. Well, maybe there's some enjoyment to be had there, y'know? COD has definitely overstayed its welcome (despite Advanced Warfare being the first breath of fresh air for that series in years), but such a landmark franchise shouldn't mean that whenever any title veers off into gun-happy territory, the haters get free-reign to hurl expletives and cry that their beloved game is being dumbed down. At the end of the day, Fallout's past shooting mechanics sucked. V.A.T.S wasn't just an optional toggle, it necessary to surviving not only the in-game wasteland, but ensuring you didn't put out any windows in your house through sheer frustration in the process. It's quite possibly the single best thing Bethesda could've done in tightening up this immediately engaging part of the game, and you need only take a look at the severely underrated Metro series to see how intense atmosphere and meaty gunplay can work in perfect harmony.
