3. Equip Settlers With Weapons & Armour

I covered how to transfer items and weapons to companions in my Things You Didn't Know You Could Do article, and for settlers it's exactly the same - providing you know how it works in the first place. Rather than seeing your settlers craft equipment for themselves or have a prompt to switch gear in their conversation trees, you first need to follow the Barter command or begin talking to trade items. From there, transfer across anything you'd like them to use or wear, and instead of hitting X/A, hit Y/Triangle instead. The game world is always frozen in these menus, but you'll see settlers' visual design change immediately, letting you prepare your crew best for any invasions from unwanted enemies.
