Fallout 4 Survival Mode: 10 Tips & Tricks You Can't Live Without

8. Get The Lead Belly Perk

Oh, how we all laughed at the Lead Belly perk in the standard difficulty settings of Fallout 4. The perk reduces the radiation damage you take from irradiated food and drink, and at higher levels cancels it out altogether, but it was never that useful thanks to stimpaks and non-radioactive foods being in plentiful supply.

Even if you did have to knock back the odd Nuka Cola, you€™d probably have a big pile of RadAway to hand to get rid of any nasty side-effects, so why bother with Lead Belly?

In survival mode, staying well fed and hydrated is a constant concern. You€™ll be surprised how quickly you run out of food and drink, and the hungrier and thirstier you get, the more damaging the effects. What€™s more, if you€™re badly starved or dehydrated, then you€™ll need the corresponding amount of food to get you back to rude health.

With this in mind, suddenly those Nuka Colas and Sugar Bombs look pretty appealing, and this perk will make sure you have the constitution to stomach them.
