Fallout 5: 10 Biggest Items Fans NEED To See
7. A More Varied Speech System
The speech system in Fallout 4 is unquestionably one of the most divisive aspects of the game as a whole. Replacing the text-based system present in all previous mainline titles was always going to upset a large portion of the fanbase.
It's also worth pointing out that this isn't meant as a criticism of Brian T. Delaney and Courtenay Taylor who provide the voice acting for the male and female protagonists respectively if anything their work as Nate and Moira is excellent and captures the desperation and hopelessness of living in a post-apocalyptic world.
Instead, the reason the criticism levied at the game having a voiced protagonist is that it severely limits the ability to roleplay which is what drew so many to the franchise in the first place. Fallout 4's speech system attempts to reduce speech options into four vaguely described categories, forcing players to hope that their 'sarcastic' response isn't going to provoke a violent reaction.
A future title would benefit by limiting the amount of information given about the player character's backstory to allow more freedom and creativity in how people decide to play the game.
