Fallout 5: 10 Ways To Blow Fallout 4 Out The Water

7. A Dynamic Dialogue System

Although the dialogue wheel was a good means of streamlining conversations so that they're a little more user-friendly, this decision also led to fewer conversation results. Many conversations would end on the same note regardless of whether you picked the caring or jerk option. The most important part of streamlining game mechanics is that the mechanics themselves aren't robbed of their depth in the process.

This doesn't mean that the dialogue wheel has to be removed exactly, just that it cannot prevent dialogue from having that same dynamic feeling that was once present with the listed responses in past games. Every option given during conversations need to feel viable, as well as legitimate. When you answer sarcastically or even sympathetically, the response shouldn't always be predictable. If the in-game conversations feel adaptive and reactive like an actual conversation, then dialogue will finally be as authentic as players would want.

Even if the differences in conversations aren't massive, what's vital is that there ARE differences. Players crave those little details like in Fallout 3 and NV where low intelligence leads to hilarious replacement dialogue options. Besides, if F5 nails that feeling of authentic conversation, we can work on our small talk virtually instead of those boring real-life pleasantries.
