Fallout 5 Wishlist: 8 Biggest Changes That MUST Happen

6. Bring Back The Karma System

Fallout 5
Bethesda

Morality systems in games tend to be a bit of a binary inclusion with no real consequence. Most games whittle down to a black and white, good/bad ending choice, with no real impact on how you got there.

Yet Fallout 3 had a well refined inclusion in its Karma system, which saw you gain praise or notoriety on a massive scale. Minor naughty points like stealing could be balanced out with helping people, for example, if you wanted to stay in the middle ground. Or you could blow up Megaton, which whilst an impressive sight, was apparently a bit of a bad thing. Who'd have thought it?

Morality in Fallout made it fun, is what I'm getting at. Playing as post-nuclear messiah has its benefits, as did Toecutter'ing (you're welcome, anyone over 30) your way across the wastelands like an absolute terror.

Close off abilities and progression paths to the evil/good/neutral paths to encourage more playthroughs and possibilities, for maximum replayability. Or play it fast and loose: help an elderly person out whilst punching a child. The possibilities are endless!
