To remove any semblance of doubt when you encounter other humans, Bethesda's elected not to include any AI-controlled Homo sapiens in Fallout 76. To that end, you'll always know, without a doubt, that the pair of eyeballs staring back at you belong to another player, but what ramifications do those decisions have on Fallout 76's story?

Bethesda has reiterated numerous times that its multiplayer venture will, in fact, present the player with a tailored narrative, but it won't be delivered in the way Fallout fans have grown accustomed to.

Instead of multiple choice dialogue chains and human quest givers, Fallout 76 will spin its yarn through NPCs of the mechanical kind, as well as indirect human interaction via pre-recordings and Holotapes.

What bearing that new approach will have on the quality of Fallout 76's story remains to be seen, but if the compromise means it can be digested alongside friends, it's a risk worth taking, right?
