Fallout 76: 8 New Details You Need To Know
4. C.A.M.P.s AREN'T Impervious To Damage
If you think the humble abode you'll piece together with irradiated wood and scrap metal will be safe from hostile attacks by other players in Fallout 76, think again. Aiming to allay fears that players' amateur architectural work will all be for nought, should another destructively-minded individual stumble across it, Todd Howard confirmed that, yes, "other players can damage it," but "only partially."
In other words, you shouldn't expect your home from home to stay in pristine condition while you're away on adventures, but there's a limit to how much havoc can be caused in a base owner's absence. You won't return from a hard day's scavenging to find a hole in the ground, but wear and tear will accumulate. Fortunately, any damage will cost "very little" to repair, according to Howard.
So, with the penalty being so mild, why bother making it possible to damage bases at all? Humorously, Howard says the decision wasn't made as a means of encouraging players to destroy the hard work of others but rather, to ensure that builders don't trap - accidentally or otherwise - other players within an inescapable structure, forcing a game restart.
