Fallout 76: 9 New Features We Can't Wait To Try
5. Player Vs Player
PvP is in, we know that much, but how exactly Bethesda's planning on handling such interactions is, so far, the part of Fallout 76 we know the least about.
The studio's marketing boss Pete Hines has already made efforts to allay fears that the experience will amount to little more than a giant gankfest, stating that those who perish at the hands of another player won't lose their gear or progress and can escape their attacker's clutches by opting to spawn elsewhere on the map.
With that said, Hines does concede that holding the player's hand too much will lead to such encounters feeling uneventful and ultimately fail to be impactful, stating that the team is "still trying to figure out how you make it feel like there is still some tension," further adding that "We’ve tried different versions. I think the one we have now is pretty close.”
Remember, PvP content isn't just a first for the Fallout franchise, but Bethesda too. For that reason, it shouldn't come as a surprise if, at launch, the system has some teething issues, but if Bethesda can nail down what it wants out of the system, Fallout 76 could feel like the most complete survival RPG to date.
