Fallout 76: 9 New Features We Can't Wait To Try
4. Facing Off Against New Foes
With its status as a prequel and a new geographical location confirmed, Bethesda's afforded its character artists the creative freedom to go wild with new and funky designs for mutated, irradiated and generally terrifying fauna to populate post-apocalyptic West Virginia, several of which smiled for the cameras during Fallout 76's E3 showcase.
Among those officially named was The Grafton Monster, a vaguely humanoid mound of muscle that opted to skip leg day for two decades in favour of big guns, and the Scorchbeast, a winged demon that presumably once resembled a simple bat but now boasts a wingspan large enough to blot out the sun.
The menagerie of the weird and wonderful doesn't stop there, either. Further examples of grisly human mutations, including what appears to be a precursor to the Super Mutants, Rad-Wasps and a beast with hypnotic orange eyes all promise to ruin your day.
With online play now a reality here's to hoping that Bethesda's seen fit to infuse its creations with mechanics that promote strategy. The Grafton Monster, in particular, looks as if it could be some form of superboss that requires the combined effort of several players to bring down for sweet, sweet loot.
