Fallout 76: 9 Past Franchise Problems It Can Finally Fix
2. Fix Pip Boy HUD & Integration
The Pip-Boy interface and integration needs a meaningful overhaul. Fallout 4 did a bit of work when it comes to accessing our inventory faster... but then resigned it to the companion app.
In-game, without a second screen you were still bringing up the Pip-Boy to do everything from equip a newly picked up weapon to healing or flicking the radio on, whereas with the app you could tap to use a Stimpack, fast-travel, apply RadAway and everything else.
Basically, Fallout 76 needs a better hotkey menu - perhaps a "Hold button and tap directions/other buttons" to give us a quickfire interface on the go, not to mention the terrible "everything's just in a list" approach to customisation overall.
If the layering system is staying - and it should - we need this part of the Pip-Boy (at least) to be meaningfully streamlined.
