Fallout: Ranking Every Add-On From Worst To Best

13. Mothership Zeta (Fallout 3)

Fallout New Vegas Old World Blues
Bethesda

Mothership Zeta, the fifth and final Fallout 3 add-on, was easily the most disappointing of the game's entire DLC catalog. It's by no means terrible, mind you, but it does feel like a massive missed opportunity.

The biggest issue with this expansion is that it failed to really capitalize on its interesting premise. A Fallout 3 add-on that gave some depth to the infamous alien Easter eggs by having your character actually be abducted had the potential to be both exciting and delightfully strange.

To Mothership Zeta's credit, the pacing was solid, the aliens themselves were interesting, and most of the new weapons were a lot of fun to play around with. However, the expansion also falls victim to an uninspired plot, awkward corridor combat, and some rather repetitive design.

While it is a decent expansion, all things considered, Mothership Zeta just didn't feel like the Fallout 3 DLC grand finale it probably should have. Put plainly, it just doesn't quite stack up to the rest of what the game has to offer.
