Fallout: Ranking Every Add-On From Worst To Best

12. Operation: Anchorage (Fallout 3)

As other Fallout add-ons have taught us, Bethesda often sees expansions as an opportunity to step out of their comfort zone and do something a bit different.

However, Fallout 3's first add-on, Operation: Anchorage, teaches us that it doesn't always entirely work. And much like Mothership Zeta, Operation: Anchorage has as many negatives as it does positives.

In this DLC, Fallout's RPG elements take a backseat to a more traditional first-person (or third-person) shooter gameplay style.

This makes sense, given the actual plot of the add-on, but if you're not a big fan of traditional FPS games with next to no RPG or survival elements, Operation: Anchorage probably isn't for you.

That said, fans of Fallout lore will likely get a big kick out of being able to play a simulation of the Battle of Anchorage, which is arguably the single-most important military event in the Fallout universe pre-Great War.

Unfortunately, this is also dampened by how short the add-on is, as well as the fact that you can't revisit the simulation after completing it.
