Far Cry: Every Game Ranked Worst To Best
8. Far Cry Instincts
Because Crytek's original Far Cry was a technical marvel when it released, Ubisoft had a rather difficult time transferring it to consoles. After creating ports that outright failed, they instead attempted to remake the original game specifically for Xbox. This meant scaling back on the scope of open areas, but resulted in great new additions like weapons, multiplayer modes and feral abilities.
The latter in particular allowed Instincts to stand out from the crowd, giving players a more robust arsenal than what they were used to. Yeah, it was a bit of a strange addition, but it certainly gave the remake an edge over the original.
While Ubisoft did a pretty solid job of transferring the ambition of Crytek's first effort over to substantially less powerful machines, it still resulted in a title that couldn't quite escape the shadow of its predecessor. It was more than a match for other first-person shooters on console, but in many regards the sequel felt like a step back, rather than a leap forward.
