Far Cry: New Dawn - 8 Details You Need To Know

4. It’s As Colourful As Blood Dragon

The Blood Dragon add on to Far Cry is a genuine contender for the most bonkers piece of gaming of the modern era. It’s comparable to Nier: Automata’s long string of letters and numbers DLC where you must battle the game developer’s CEOs. Where Far Cry 3 was often dark, twisted and atmospheric, Blood Dragon was soaked in neon and retro stylings.

It felt a little bit like if Saint’s Row had done a Far Cry parody. From start to finish it was non-stop fun, and the kind of thing you feel many devs would love to make for their most prized games, but aren’t able to because of marketing concerns and the need to appeal to the masses.

It was a huge breakaway from Far Cry’s usual palette, and while the campy 80s action movie won’t be found in New Dawn, the rainbow splattered environments definitely will be. Despite the post apocalyptic setting of the story, the trailer is awash with overgrown weeds, bright flowers and spray paint everywhere. It seems plant life survived into this new dawn for humanity. And with some anarchist vibes coming through, it’s clear the colour schemes will be throwing the rule book out.
