Far Cry Primal - 9 Big Things It Must Fix From 4

8. Melee Combat Needs An Overhaul

With the setting of Primal reverting back to prehistoric times, we're going to see a substantial reduction in the amount of ranged weapons, as essentially apart from throwing spears and twanging arrows off in all directions, you're limited to getting up close n' personal with a bladed weapon or club of some sort. As such, both FC 3 and 4 had the 'melee chaining' ability you could unlock, where rather like Assassin's Creed, taking out one enemy freed up the option to dart after the next (providing you'd started from a stealth kill, anyway). For Primal we need ways to dispatch groups of hunters in one fell swoop or to create some distance when hemmed in, alongside more in-depth block and counter options so we're not just hammering the melee button and hoping for the best. Call of Duty: Black Ops III actually features the exact move necessary, where you trigger it during combat, burst out and away from being pinned down and take out a few enemies one-by-one in the process. Assassin's Creed also featured this after a counter, and 2015's Mad Max lets you unlock bone-breaking moves that 'freak out' other combatants in the vicinity, giving you room to take them out.
