2. In-Depth Climbing Mechanics
How many times did you come up on a waypoint, only to realise it's on the other side of a mountain, thereby meaning you had to awkwardly shamble your way across its outer edge, occasionally falling into the depths below? In fairness, a handful of these mountains did have contextual points you could attach your grapple hook too that would then let you swing with ease between platforms, but it was tightly regimented. You'd inevitably climb the same walls the same way every time, as oppose to unlocking the ability to place a foot or handhold on the rock face, before carefully mantling up step by step. Luckily, Ubisoft's indie gem Grow Home featured a very robust climbing mechanic that mapped each hand to the triggers, meaning you alternated movement and grip independently, and although I'd be amazed if something similar shows up in Primal, it's a step in the right direction.
