FIFA 13 Gamescom Trailer: 5 Things We've Learnt

2. Team Intelligence

Every FIFA fan has been in a situation where you get a two-on-one in the final third, then the other player in your attack stops to run back in the wrong direction. This happened an awful lot during a season on FIFA 12, but thankfully looks likely to get better with 13. Attacking intelligence on the Gamescom trailer introduces you to a quick look at a striker peeling away from a defender to give him a bit of space in the box. This is a big step forward for FIFA in order to get a healthy attack going. The big selling point for 12 was that the defensive game had stepped up to the point where you actually had to play football to score a goal. The problem with that system was that attacking became repetitive and a little predictable. The downside to FIFA 12 was that the game controlled your attack, you didn't dictate the tactical side. This season it looks like the other players on your team will do a lot more of the leg work, allowing you to create a flowing passing game or make an individual darting run when you want to.
