4. Manager Mode Design
The quality of the manager menu screen won't influence your decision to buy FIFA 13, but it will make your life a lot easier. Every year the manager options change and influence the way the game is played. In 2006 you could spend your budget on upgrading staff, in 2007 you were given an office and in 2008 you could schedule training sessions on a weekly basis. My point is, manager mode alterations have effected your experience every season, whether they've had a big effect is a different matter. You only catch a glimpse of what to expect from the menu in the new trailer but it looks like there are a few new features. FIFA 12 gave you a lot of news from around the game, perhaps too much, but it also gave you the chance to speak to the media. Not that anyone ever used that feature, because you buy a football game to play football. Manager games are out there, this shouldn't pretend to be one. Hopefully this year will see the return of a simple menu screen, with add-ons that players want to use. Like a squad page that doesn't also feature the team's mood. It hardly ever changed unless, you've guessed it, they were left on the bench for too long. Maybe a few creative training options and more tactics features would go a long way too.
