4. David Luiz
Team: Chelsea This may come as something of a revelation to Barcelona fans who seem to be perpetually linked with a move for the Sideshow Bob-haired Brazilian centre-half, or indeed the Chelsea fans who sit and watch him every week, but David Luiz is not the player some think he is. Luiz was remarkably undervalued by FIFA 13, particularly in Ultimate Team, where his improbably high stats were offset by an equally improbable low cost, and he became an essential purchase for that very reason. But counter to those stats, and indeed to what appears to be established "logic" that values him at around the Rio Ferdinand mark, he is not a superhuman defender. He still frequently finds himself out of position, dragged by his typically Brazilian gung-ho attitude up the pitch, and he runs back towards his own goal without the ball far too much for a world class defender. Add to that the fact that he gives the ball away, and he's a poor man's Fabricio Coloccini. Yes, the past year has seen an upturn in his skills, which has pushed him to a starting spot in the Brazil squad, but you have to remember, these things are relative, and the Brazilian defence isn't quite as alluring as the Brazilian attack. Or as hard to get into. Regardless, his stats are likely to see a massive uplift, because he was undervalued last year, and because public opinion seems to have turned towards him after his first poor season at Chelsea was swept away by fresher, less poor memories.
