FIFA 14 New Gameplay Trailer: 5 Key Things We Learned

4. "True Player Motion" Makes The Game More Realistic Than Ever

fifa14screen2 In the gameplay video unveiled at E3 last week, Channon also talked us through some of the game's new features, one of which was improved AI intelligence. A fancifully-titled new mechanic known as "true player motion" will be making its way into FIFA 14 this September. Now, EA are famed for coming up with long-winded buzz words for their new features and this particular mechanic can merely be broken down as "more realistic AI". The artificial intelligence in FIFA games of old was at times imperfect - when attempting to play a through-ball into the path of an onrushing teammate, the ball would occasionally hit the back if his heels and flick into the possession of the opposition, leading to frustration. Now though, according to Channon, the AI will have a much greater sense of their surroundings and will react accordingly. The AI will now be conscious to the opposition's attempt to win the ball and will automatically skip over a defender's leg as they jink past them, and strikers will also anticipate impact from opposition defenders by bracing themselves for an oncoming challenge by using their body to fend off rival players. This new physics system is all down to the new "Ignite Engine" which comes to the Xbox One and PlayStation 4, and rebuilds the game's physics from the ground up to give us one of the most realistic sport simulation games on the market.
