FIFA 15: 10 Players Who Need Downgrading After World Cup

8. Marcelo €“ 83

Of the many failures of the host nation€™s abysmal squad without doubt their biggest was their relaxed, irresponsible attitude to defending. Despite the unit of Marcelo, David Luiz, Thiago Silva and Dani Alves probably being the most financially valuable defensive line-up of any team on the planet, they kept only one clean-sheet in the whole tournament and conceded 10 goals in the final two games. Though you could make a case that all four of Brazil€™s starting defenders should justifiably be downgraded on FIFA 15 (yes, even Thiago Silva), the 83-rated Marcelo is outstanding as being the worst. No matter how skilled Marcelo may be on the ball, he is a left-back above all else €“ a fact that he seems unable to remember. Real Madrid€™s defender started the World Cup off with an own goal against Croatia that would be a good representation of his whole tournament. His irresponsible attitude to defending and holding position cost Brazil dearly on more than one occasion, most drastically against Germany. Suggested Rating: 78
