FIFA 14 Rating: 74 Ratings of 80 shouldn't be handed out without understanding exactly what that sort of assessment means, but 27 goals from 34 games for a midfielder in any league is an astounding return, and Commons deserves the accolades of a boosted rating this year based on that alone. If Van Dijk was the most important player from Celtic's foundation last year, Commons was undoubtedly the supremely important presence in attack, and while he's now 30, his retirement from international football should be a boost for Celtic. if he can score even 20 goals this season, he will have more than justified his new improved rating. Last year, EA Sports were all-too conservative with the Englishman, giving him only 71 for finishing, when he should be into the 80s and generally skimming a few points off his rating unfairly. The old adage goes that class is permanent and form only temporary, but it's very obvious that Commons importance to Celtic's cause should see him pushed beyond the ceiling of the 70s.
