FIFA 15: Chelsea Player Rating Predictions

11. Cesar Azpilicueta - 82

FIFA 14 Rating - 77 Azpilicueta was drastically underrated in FIFA 14 from the start, having enjoyed a terrific 2012/13 season under Di Matteo and Rafa Benitez while still adapting to a new club and country. Under Mourinho, it was his versatility which allowed him to flourish, this time on the left in place of Ashley Cole. He was instrumental in providing defensive support for Eden Hazard, staying back at most teams and making sure there was always someone ready to cover in case of a quick opposition break. His lack of attacking intent may cost him as high a rating as he might otherwise deserve, but anything less than 82 would seem grossly unfair. Hopefully EA's researchers have been paying more attention this time. In terms of individual stats, the increase should mostly come through Azpi's defensive numbers, with his relatively unexceptional numbers for ball control and dribbling remaining stagnant. A huge rise is due in his positioning stat, which was previously a dismal 68 but must surely now be up in the heady 80s. His marking and tackling could also do with a jump start, from their current levels of 75 (Marking), 76 (Sliding Tackle) and 77 (Standing) respectively.
