FIFA 16: 10 Ways To Improve Manager Mode
4. Make It A Story
"So Mister Manager. You sit here aside your new signing and many are asking if you believe Christian Nadé will be able to handle the pace of playing for Real Madrid. What are your thoughts?"
You shift uncomfortably in your seat.
The need for a genuine story mode in FIFA has been laid out for all to see from the peerless NBA 2K15. The sequences used 'out of game' for introductions and interactions between players, coaches, the press and even each other are incredible and as football moves toward being a game of personalities, is something EA Sports should seriously consider.
FIFA 16 is crying out for a story mode where you carve out your niche as the swashbuckling manager of League 2 Plymouth Argyle who insists on playing four strikers. Adding press interaction before, during and after the game along with fully modelled managers on the touchline would be a wonderful addition to the game.
Imagine a manager leading their team off the field, 3-1 down to lesser opposition in a final day decider and desperate to lay a punch on someone. He's accosted by Geoff Shreeves in the tunnel. Perfect.
The next generation systems have more than enough power to put players firmly in the shoes of their managers. EA Sports just have to take the leap.
