There are many RPG elements which EA Sports could introduce to FIFA 16 to make Manager Mode a real competitor again but by far and away the most impressive would be the ability to create a manager.
Like Be A Pro mode, players could choose to create a manager or take on the personality and role of an established coach. Those who choose to take on the mantle of Jose Mourinho would need to balance a media persona with a close-knit squad and commit to playing in his style, whereas those who created their own manager could set their own direction with a series of goals they want to complete.
Quite apart from that, players should be able to use FIFA's impressive character creation system to model the look of their manager. If the focus of the Manager Mode is on immersion then what could be better than the sight of your manager walking down the touchline ready to take charge of their first game in charge of the national team?
Pipe dreams, obviously, but there's scope for FIFA 16 to focus more on the eponymous Manager. What drives them? What makes them tick? It's something that Sports Interactive have captured with their mighty Football Manager series- so what's stopping EA Sports?
