FIFA 17: 5 Reasons We Need A Sequel To The Journey
4. The Story Is Open To Continue
One cannot expect too much surprise or suspense in a story about a footballer's rise to fame. After all, the endgame of any footballing story is about getting the ball in the back of the net.
However, with The Journey all the main characters were given simple but interesting development and traits. For instance, Hunter's main rival (Gareth Walker), becomes cocky and dismissive. Alex's grandfather (Jim Walker), is the old salty former pro trying to keep his grandson's feet on the ground, and head out of his backside. And even Hunter's agent saw some development during his interactions with Jim Walker who he had idolised as a child.
It would be interesting to see what a second season would bring for the characters, how they would change, would Alex become a typically arrogant and overpaid footballer? Or would he be humble and thankful for his change in fortunes? Thankfully, the ending to The Journey very much left it open for the story to continue.
