FIFA 18: 5 New Features You Need To Know
4. Crossing Has Changed
FIFA 17's pinpoint crossing accuracy wasn't quite at FIFA 08 standards of unrealistic physics, but it was still fairly easy to jostle for position inside the box and score with the head if the ball came anywhere near you. Slow down just before crossing and resist the sprint button for long enough? Well, your cross will come out looking like it was delivered by Ronaldo rather than Routledge.
EA have endeavoured to change this in 18. Plumping for a much more hands on control system, the developers now encourage players to put the ball precisely where they want it. Of course, you could fiddle with the control options in prior FIFA titles, but that kind of manual crossing is the default setting out of the box in FIFA 18.
Instead of crosses always targeting the best-placed player in the box (and usually falling just behind them), it's now possible to ping balls in front of your strikers. If you're like us and love the long ball game, then this is a dream scenario.
