FIFA 18 Wishlist: 10 Things That Must Be Included
2. VR Support
Sony have invested bags of time, effort, and money into their PlayStation Virtual Reality system, but the roll-out hasn’t been entirely smooth, and the game line-up is still underwhelming. Resident Evil 7 remedied this somewhat, but PSVR is still lacking in the mainstream titles it needs to really take-off. Fortunately, FIFA 18 could go a long way to addressing this problem.
The days of throwing on a VR headset and running around a full-rendered football pitch are still a while away, and you won’t be playing as a first-person Leo Messi anytime soon. There are plenty of others ways in which EA can implement the technology, however. From crowd camera angles to first-person referee footage during the game’s more heated moments, such small touches would increase FIFA’s immersion level tenfold.
There’ll likely be some major kinks to iron-out at first, but there’s no reason why PSVR can’t be worked into FIFA 18. EA certainly have the resources to pull it off, and if they’re successful, the could wind-up creating the most immersive football game of all-time. At this stage, FIFA and PSVR coming together feels like an inevitability, and it’s a question of “when?” rather than “if.”
