FIFA 19: 10 Changes To Be Most Excited About
8. 50/50 Tackling
Some will probably be scratching their heads and wondering aloud if they'd imagined EA's talk of jostling and better defending several years ago. Don't worry: you're not losing your mind. EA did introduce more physical presence on the pitch before. In 19, they're determined to iron out the flaws and make physicality more important than ever before.
That, hopefully, will mean AI defenders don't just stand there without putting in a tackle when opposition attackers sprint through on goal.
Anyone who played more than a handful of matches in FIFA 18 will know that this happened all too often in the game. Not only did it suck and have players hammering buttons on their controller of choice like the damn thing was broken, it also exposed the game as robotic rather than realistic.
With 50/50 tackling, there will be situations when both players hit the turf and give the referee a decision to make. That's promising, because a drop ball scenario or foul is one million times better than top-notch defenders deciding they can't be bothered putting a foot in.
