FIFA 19: 7 Things We Already Know
3. The Journey Takes You To Real Madrid
Spoiler alert for anybody who hasn't yet finished FIFA 18's Journey.
-
As Alex Hunter introduces his half-sister Kim to granddad Jim and The Journey 2 comes to a close, he receives a phone call from an agent who teases he might someday play for Real Madrid. There's no way the constant hints EA's storytellers have dropped about the Spanish giants are a coincidence.
In FIFA 19, The Journey's third chapter will take Hunter to the Santiago Bernabéu in Madrid and have him playing for Los Blancos alongside superstars like Cristiano Ronaldo.
The move makes sense. Think back to the opening hour or last year's chapter and it becomes glaring. There, Hunter's agent Michael bungled a deal with a fake agent to take him from the Premier League to La Liga. Combine that with the cliffhanger ending to FIFA 18's Journey and things become glaring.
Expect there to be deeper customisation than ever before too. It's in EA's best interests to let players tailor their own Alex Hunter, and the (admittedly superficial) RPG elements of last year's game were a nice touch.
Start packing your bags for Madrid.
