Aside from reporters asking managers why their match was sh*t following a thrilling 3-3 draw, those new press conference cut scenes have other problems. Namely, they're a bit drab, and they got old fairly quickly for those who pin hopes on Career Mode every year.
This is the kind of enhancement Career should've had five, maybe even six, years ago. Maybe, had it been implemented back then, it might actually work now.
Press conferences need actual depth if they're going to stick around the FIFA locker room. It's almost agonising to learn that EA have approximately 15 phrases in their script before things start to repeat, and it's unacceptable. Surely by now players shelling out hard-earned money should have an experience to be proud of?
Going forward, these cut scenes need to fully complement what happens on the pitch. That's their primary function, after all, and so it's distressing to learn EA think a rinse-and-repeat formula is good enough. It really, really isn't.
