FIFA 22 Beta: 10 Hands-On First Impressions

2. Press Conferences Still Need Work

FIFA 22
EA Sports

Hmm.

Press conferences between matches are still very boring and lack pizzazz. They haven't changed - you'll still be asked questions that rarely make sense (like what happens now you're "out of the title race" after a scant three matches of the league campaign), and that totally breaks any sense of immersion.

On the plus side, transfer and contract negotiations are functional, although they're suspiciously PES-like this time round. EA has some new camera angles that dart around to stop them feeling so static and lifeless, but the question must be asked: WHY DIDN'T THEY DO THIS WITH PRESSERS TOO?!

Those cutscenes require a total overhaul. Questions must be contextually accurate, and it shouldn't be so easy to keep a squad or individual player's morale sky high at all times. Someone at EA needs to study post-match segments from Sky Sports or BBC's Match Of The Day and go from there.

This, at least in the Beta, looks like another lazy, shallow affair that becomes a chore rather quickly.
