FIFA 22 Review: 7 Ups & 5 Downs
2. Pace Isn’t The Priority Anymore
Any self-respecting Ultimate Team nut will tell you that speed is everything. Often, FUT players would cheer louder when snagging strikers with a high pace stat than they would for somebody like Harry Kane (who is one of the best strikers but wouldn't give Christian Pulisic hassles during sprint drills).
That always felt backwards.
Speedsters up front can still be lethal in FIFA 22, obviously. However, you won't be as tempted to ditch slower forwards in favour of Flash Gordon types every time. The more methodical tempo to attacking in this year's game means pace has never meant less to your frontline than it does now.
Overpowered heading also makes players like Kane and Robert Lewandowski a viable option to those who spam the sprint button all over the park. Their ability to find space in the box means bombing up the line with a winger and throwing in crosses reaps huge rewards.
