FIFA 23: 10 Big Changes EA Sports Need To Revitalise The Franchise
1. Move Away From Reliance On Ultimate Team
While it is the money-making mode for EA Sports, too much attention continues to be focused on Ultimate Team - to the detriment of every other area of the game.
The idea of building your own team of superstar players is very addictive and has proved a huge hit with fans. However, content continues to be recycled each year and, despite more being added to Ultimate Team, its charm has gone.
Aside from microtransactions, the biggest problem with Ultimate Team is it takes over from lots of other modes that have so much potential. The same happened with Pro Evolution Soccer with its MyClub mode, which saw fan favourites such as Master League left behind.
During the year, aside from gameplay patches, Ultimate Team is the only mode that receives updates, with areas like Career Mode and Pro Clubs crying out for more content to keep players coming back.
It comes down to money, and Ultimate Team continues to do very well for EA Sports every single year. However, to keep fans engaged more effort needs to be made elsewhere as eventually fans will get sick of putting huge sums of money and time each year into the exact same experience.
