FIFA 23: 10 Big Changes EA Sports Need To Revitalise The Franchise

8. Add A New Mode

Alongside the traditional modes such as Ultimate Team, Career Mode and Be a Pro, EA Sports have tried different additions to inject some life into the series to bring new fans on board.

Over the last few years we saw the Journey have great success in its first outing as a story-based alternative to traditional matches. However, after its initial first year it remained for two further versions of FIFA but to limited success, as the story of Alex Hunter continued.

It was then replaced by Volta, which tried to bring back fans of the FIFA Street series, but this has struggled to have the impact EA Sports wanted in the years since its reintroduction. A condensed story mode was axed from FIFA 22, with now simply an option to play games online to try and climb the divisions.

While most players now stick to Ultimate Team, the game is crying out for something new to have an impact that draws either lapsed or new fans into the series, the same way that the Journey did with its first outing. Another story-based outing is an option or taking some inspiration from other successful sports titles in recent years such as the NBA2K series.
