FIFA 23 Beta: 10 Hands-On First Impressions You Need To Know

9. Goalkeepers Are Still Hit Or Miss

Above, you'll see PSG man Kylian Mbappe setting himself for a side-footed effort on goal. The opposition keeper is diving to his right, desperately hoping to keep the Frenchman's strike out. That's the kind of one-on-one scenario you'll see a lot of in FIFA 23, especially 'cause through balls are still your friend.

If only goalies were a tad less erratic.

Regardless of the difficulty level you choose, your keepers will have so-so matches every time. One minute, they're pulling off stunning saves that seem impossible. The next, they’re letting balls trickle underneath them like it’s David de Gea vs. Brentford all over again. There's no real middle ground, which is frustrating.

Watching a weak shot go straight through the man between your posts was agonising in FIFA 22, and it's the same this year too. Keepers are also generally awful for coming off their line just as strikers wind up for shots outside the box.
