FIFA 23 Beta: 10 Hands-On First Impressions You Need To Know
8. Difficulties Still Need Sorted Out
Right, surely there's some sort of happy medium between difficulty levels like ‘Legendary’ and ‘Superstar’!? EA’s swing is far too big, and it means even the crappiest teams in the land end up having spells where they play like peak Barca on the higher difficulties.
CPU squads should be better organised and wise to your samey tactics, sure, but seeing Fulham ping the ball about with laser-like precision is a bit much. Meanwhile, and this is even more irritating, seasoned FIFA players will breeze through most matches on ‘Legendary’ and get tricked into upping the challenge.
That's when you'll be smashed, feel like you have zero control and start whinging about EA's scripting. Again, that "happy medium" should be a priority going forwards. Sure, FIFA is becoming more and more about competitive online gaming than sitting down to tussle with the AI, but balance is everything.
'World Class' and 'Legendary' can be too easy. 'Superstar' and 'Ultimate' can be impossible.
