FIFA 23 Review: 8 Ups & 6 Downs
6. Aggressive Slide Tackling Is A Joy
Take that!
No, that wasn't another 1990s reference to Gary Barlow and the boys (although 'Back For Good' is a tune - sorry). Instead, it's exactly what you'll be yelling out as you punch the air in delight upon spamming FIFA's new aggressive slide tackle feature. They're infinitely satisfying to pull off.
Sure, you'll mistime them horribly, wipe players out and receive a fully-merited booking or red card 99 times out of 100, but there's something altogether joyous about aggressively sliding in. These tackle modifiers are brilliant for last-gasp stoppages on the goal line, and they could become an essential part of your defending arsenal.
This might be the first time you ever celebrate conceding a throw-in, to be honest. Cutting a winger's sprint down the line by smashing in to take the ball is every bit as gratifying as landing a hit up against the glass in EA's NHL franchise, and that says it all.
Get stuck in.
