7. Irvine (Final Fantasy VIII)
In Final Fantasy VIII, SeeD employ Galbadian sharpshooter Irvine to take out Sorceress Edea from a safe distance with a high-power rifle (though that doesn't quite go as planned). Thereafter, he joins the party and can be equipped with a number of cool firearms, while different ammo types afford him different limit break types. This FFVIII spinoff centres on Irvine's sharpshooter career before the events of the main game. Missions would generally revolve around assassinating given targets, ranging from havoc-wreaking monsters to top-secret political persons. The ideal gameplay engine would be adaptable enough for the player to be able to run in all guns blazing for the former (should they choose) or take a more silent, tactical approach for the latter. This, like many of these entries, also makes canonical sense; Irvine couldn't simply rely on the incredible power of GFs because before he meets the party in the main game, he hadn't junctioned any.
