Though you'll be parked on a chair for hours on end covered in Doritos as you adventure through landscapes and fight through dungeons, Final Fantasy XIV's progression system makes you feel like you're spending your time productively.

Littered across the game's many menus and plentiful environments are dungeons, FATE's and hunts that all serve to heighten your stature in Eorzea through generous xp drops. An opportunity to get stronger is never far away, and skipping from activity to activity in search of levels is a fun metagame in a sea of other tasks to complete.

The Challenge Log pushes you further into the quest for levels, and completing dungeons or defeating high level enemies inches you closer to a healthy experience boost. Building up your Lancer abilities or working on your Disciple of Hand class like Carpenter or Leatherworker in search of that next great armour addition makes Final Fantasy XIV feel like it offers plenty of ways to be productive amongst its captivating story and enjoyable social offerings.

The truth is perhaps less majestic, as the only productive feat you're really achieving in the real world is contributing even more to the hefty electricity bill.
