Final Fantasy 7: Ranking Every Main Character From Worst To Best

8. Rufus Shinra

Final Fantasy 7 Cloud
Square Enix

During the first part of FF VII, Rufus will become the president of Shinra Co. We first meet him after his father is killed by Sephiroth, and Cloud will have to battle him solo.

Fighting Rufus for the first time can be frustrating as his pet Dark Nation protects him. Rufus will escape from the battle, setting off a chain of events that send our characters out of Midgar for the first time.

While we'll never have to battle him again, Rufus remains as a secondary antagonist who directs his resources to slow down AVALANCHE. He wants to control the world and won't let anything stop him.

Overall, he comes off as much more cruel and harsh than his father, at his worst when capturing Tifa and Barret, with plans to publicly execute them.

Presumed dead after Diamond Weapon attacks, FF7: Advent Children brought Rufus back for one last hurrah.
