Final Fantasy 7: Ranking Every Main Character From Worst To Best

11. Vincent Valentine

Final Fantasy 7 Cloud
Square Enix

He's the goth-vampire assassin other goth-vampire assassins wish they could be.

A dark, tormented past creates a cold and calculated character seeking closure and redemption. Not to mention he's the only side character that got to front his own game later.

However, despite looking cool, he's just not that useful once you do get him (which is totally optional). Vincent is best used at long range and in the back row, he's not very strong, and has low HP.

Worst of all, he's uncontrollable when his Limit Breaks are triggered, and it's these that really bring him down the list. All 4 involve transforming into a creature with 2 moves. He's literally unusable against fire-type enemies at the end of the game.

He has a really tragic backstory; being a former Shinra employee and having the love of his life used in the Sephiroth experiment, eventually taking her own life. Exiled to a coffin in a dark basement, Cloud and the rest of the party convince him to gather his strength and continue the fight.

Vincent would totally be a character to skip if it weren't for his cool backstory and badass look. He doesn't have much to say in this game, but his appeal was enough to warrant his own Dirge of Cerberus game.
