Final Fantasy 7 Remake: 10 Bosses We Can't Wait To See

5. Emerald Weapon

Alongside Ruby Weapon, Emerald is one of two Superbosses. It’s not necessary to defeat either of them, but the rewards are high, as is the satisfaction of overcoming such tough bosses.

Both Emerald and Ruby have unique challenges to conquer in their battles. Ruby effectively has to be fought solo, and Emerald has an attack that devastates those that overload their characters with materia, alongside a twenty-minute timer (although that can be negated.)

All the Weapons looked spectacular in the cutscenes of the original, but the graphics of the day did make them look a little cartoony. With modern graphics the Weapons will look as intimidating as intended.

I’ve picked Emerald ahead of Ruby here as I feel it has potential to be a totally different and interesting battle in Remake. I can’t wait to see how the new battle engine works against an underwater foe.

There’s also the potential for the military submarine you pilot to encounter Emerald in the original being used in the battle itself.

I’m a sucker for underwater levels, and the thought of softening Emerald up with the submarine, before having to take him on hand to hand really whet’s my appetite.
