Final Fantasy 7 Remake: 10 Bosses We Can't Wait To See
4. Midgar Zolom
Unusually for the time, Midgar Zolom was one of a few enemies encountered on the World Map.
Like many, against the games advice, I took him on out of curiosity and was in awe of the power of this huge beast. Once I’d tired of getting crushed, I did what the game wanted me to do and escaped the monster by chocobo, encountering a defeated Midgar Zolom that Sephiroth had brutally defeated with ease.
The whole scene really made you see how insignificant your party still was at this point, and how your arch enemy was vastly powerful.
The party seems more powerful in remake, with basic sword slashes and simple spells giving way to dynamic combos, leaps and dodges, and even the most basic spells seem far more impressive with these graphics.
The audience of Remake will likely be familiar with Sephiroth and be aware of his power so it’ll be interesting to see how this scene is set the second time around. The battle itself almost becomes secondary, to the set-up of contrasting your power against the main antagonist.
